William B.T. Sherman - 1999
During his time at Withrow High School, William B.T. Sherman emerged as a standout athlete, showcasing his talents in football, baseball, and basketball. His commitment to excellence was evident as he started on the varsity team for three years in football and baseball, and two years in basketball. In the realm of football, he earned the title of 1st Team All-Citywide Receiver in 1998 and secured two-time All-Conference First Team honors. William played a pivotal role in leading Withrow to two conference titles, leaving an enduring legacy as a senior All-Star wide receiver. To this day, he holds the all-time Withrow High School receiving record, a testament to his unmatched skills on the football field. Additionally, his prowess extended beyond football, as a two-time All-Conference selection in baseball and an All-City guard in basketball. Taking his talent to the collegiate level, William had an illustrious football career at The College of Sequoias and Morgan State, culminating in the attainment of a Bachelor's degree in Health from Morgan State University. Following his playing days, William seamlessly transitioned into coaching, spending five impactful years on the MSU Football coaching staff, where success became a hallmark of his tenure. His coaching journey continued at Howard University for three seasons before returning to Morgan State University. Notably, William B.T. Sherman spent three years as the head coach at Woodward High School, where he earned the well-deserved title of Coach of the Year and led the team to its first-ever playoff appearance in school history. His coaching expertise also graced Taft High School and, notably, our beloved Withrow High School in 2003.
