On a perfect June afternoon, dozens of golfers, alumni and friends of Withrow, took to the Grizzly course at the Mason Golf Center to have fun and raise money for the Withrow Tiger football team. After registration and a Skyline lunch, the tournament began with a shotgun start. The day ended with a dinner and program hosted by Solomon Wilcox and Coach Kali Jones. As a special treat Coach Jones’s father Rok Jones
brought together his band from 20 years ago to play before and after dinner. Coach Jones summed up the day as follows:
“Now that some time has gone by and the dust has settled, let me acknowledge a few people and things.
If you know me and you didn’t make the Golf Outing…you missed a great time! Anyone who knows anything about our program knows that we have an awesome team that fuels this machine and it starts with Nicole Thomas Fredrick. I can’t thank her enough for all the hard work and dedication shown to these boys and the program! The selfless hours of dedication and volunteering has been recognized but few know HOW much you put in. Thank you!! To Meggan B. Sulfsted and Anjanette France, thank you for joining our committee to help propel this event to one of THE BEST golf outings in the Cincinnati area! To all the other volunteer team members, Thank you! I want to personally thank all of you for your hard work and sacrifice during this event!
To ALL the Alumni and staff, Nichelle M. Bolden, Berdo Allen, Lauren Hope and others that showed…I hope you enjoyed the time!
To my Pops Rok Jones! Thanks for putting the band back together it was awesome! People couldn’t believe you guys hadn’t played in over 20 years! Keith, Eric, Allen, Deron Bell, man y’all showed out!
Finally to my Wife and family! I am not the coach I am today without you! Latricia Jones, you hold it down in so many ways and
have sacrificed so much in being the wife of a coach…..the ultimate sacrifice since 2008.
With the funds from last year’s outing, we were able to visit several college football camps, which coaches from many colleges visited. We are certain several scholarships will be granted from those visits. The outing is done, the camps are almost over. Now it’s time for the season!
Jones out….”
