Board Report – Spring 2014

MARCH 2014 – The first “Sounds for Withrow” Jazz Concert was held December 7th despite Old Man Winter’s efforts to play havoc on our city streets. The event raised $1,245 for the Withrow Marching Band program. We envision “Sounds for Withrow” to be an annual event to help offset the costs of maintaining the current level of excellence of our Band. Board Report – Fall 2013

Fall 2013 – As this school year opened, the ‘Withrow Administration was confronted with a 29% cut in the General Fund budget while having an enrollment increase of over 300 students. The general fund budget includes monies to cover a range of discretionary expenses. If it were not for business partners such as Families Forward, The Children’s Hospital and Luxottica, many of the special services previously covered under the General Fund would not exist. Sports Update – Fall 2013

FALL 2013 – The conclusion of the 2013 Spring season resulted in three more CMAC Championships, Softball and Boys and Girls Track, and contributed to Withrow’s sixth consecutive CMAC Sports Award Championshiip acknowledging cummulative successes across all sports programs.  In Track, a total of ten Tigers advanced to the State Meets with six Lady Tigers accummulating enough points to have the team place 2nd place in the State for the third time in five years. State-of-theArt Health Clinic Open

In late September, a newly constructed health clinic opened to provide medical care to students. The clinic is operated by the Cincinnati Health Department and is staffed by a Registered Nurse, a Nurse Practitioner, and several other support personnel. While no other Cincinnati Public school is connected to the clinic, any public school student may be treated.

Withrow Band Wins National Competition

SEPTEMBER 2013 – The Withrow Marching Band continues to uphold the proud tradition of building school spirit and entertaining a wide range of audiences throughout the city. In September, the Band and Dance and Flag teams participated in the Gateway Classic in St. Louis, MO and came marching home with the 1st Place Trophy!!
