Dick participated in the following sports:
Dick Lemay was a gifted athlete with notable achievements while at Withrow and pitching in the Major Leagues. At Withrow, he won ten varsity letters: 3 in football, 3 in basketball and 4 in baseball. He was named all‐city while helping Withrow win two city football championships. Dick was also named second team all‐city in basketball and helped win one city championship in baseball. He pitched a no‐hitter in his senior year against Hughes and was named Withrow Athlete of the Year in 1956.
In 1958, Dick signed as a free agent with the San Francisco Giants and made his Major League debut in 1961 with the Giants. He later played for the Chicago Cubs and then managed the Cubs’ Triple‐A farm club in 1971‐72. Dick also Worked as a scout for the Montreal Expos in the 1980s.
After his career in Major League Baseball, Dick worked with youth in the Minor Leagues.
